Joe Colombo was the boss of the Colombo crime family, until the Second Unity Rally Day. he was shot in an attempted suicide, that was not ordered by the mafia commission but by a butter member in his family Crazy Joe Gallo. Colombo did not die after the shooting, he spent the next few years in a vegetative state and finally passing away on May 22, 1978.
